The Benefits of Drinking Water

Posted by on April 12, 2012

We are a society of people with too many choices.  We’ve got choices for everything and choices for those choices and even more choices for those.  Fact of the matter is that sometimes we need to get back to a simple way of thinking and of all the things you could drink during the day why not pick what is the most natural to our bodies, Water?
The Benefit of Drinking WaterWater covers more than 60% of our planet, we as humans are made up of over 66% water.  Yet of all the choices we make during the day water usually isn’t high on that list of things.  We pick sugar filled and soda drinks, coffee drinks in all their elaborate thousand combinations that cost more a day than a gallon of gas.  Water is something that is very inexpensive and the health benefits alone of cutting out some of those other drinks with water are great.

Not only is it good for your health but if you are trying to lose weight it’s a natural appetite suppressant. Can you believe that?  Drinking a full glass of water before a meal means that you will eat less of the meal!  So that means you will eat less and therefore lose more weight on top of whatever weight loss program you might be on, the health benefits of drinking water are endless.

There is a responsibility that we all have when we drink water though.  We’ve had an influx of many different kinds of bottled water hit the market and now there seems like there are more designer waters as there are special sodas on the shelf of your grocery store.  This is where I recommend going a bit green with it comes to the benefits of drinking water.  Put a filter on your home tap and carry your water in reusable bottles.  Landfills are overflowing with plastic bottles that aren’t good for the environment so when picking out what sort of water you want to drink today just make it a simple choice on which color bottle you want to take with you.

Another benefit of drinking water is to get rid of water weight.  Sometimes when we have a salty diet we can retain water and that shows up in the hands and feet even our midsection being bloated a bit.  If you drink a bit more water it will help flush your system of the salt and you will lose those few extra pounds that you want to lose as well.   Water should be drank cold instead of room temperature as it seems to be easier on the system and also it helps to give a sort of boost to burning calories.

If you continue to putting your coffee drinks and your caffeine drinks ahead of water you cannot make the same breakthroughs for weight loss or just over all feeling better otherwise.  If you stop drinking enough water during the day you can look forward to more fluid retention and increased appetite.
